If you live in Finland: Get involved in the biggie training of a congregation near you. If this is not possible for special reasons, please contact Kaisa and Miina. If you would like to sign up for our youth activi-ties mailing list to receive up-to-date information about our youth camps and when to apply to be-come a biggie, please send an email to Miina.
If you live abroad: You have two options for participating in biggie training.
1. Find out whether a Finnish Congregation or the Finnish Seamen’s Church is organizing biggie training near you. If they do, take part there.
2. If there are no biggie training near you, you can take part in the LNK – The Finnish Association for Children Youth online biggie training.
Online biggie training
In the biggie training you reflect on Confirmation preparation from many different perspectives, you practise interaction skills and group leadership, and delve deeper into living as a Christian and into Christianity.
Online training consists of writing exercises on Discord, both individually and in small groups, and reading the Gospel of Mark. We also meet a couple of times in Zoom, in the autumn and spring. To receive a certificate of participation in the outreach, you must complete all the assignments given.
Some of the subjects that are covered in the biggie training:
- The role, duties and responsibilities of a biggie at a Confirmation camp
- Faith, prayer, the Bible
- Worship and devotions
- Evening activities and games
- Camp safety from different perspectives
- Large and small group leadership
Online biggie training 2025-2026
The biggie training for youth living abroad started on 8 September 2025 and ends on 31 March 2026.
Registration was open until 7.9.2025.
The participation fee for online training is 15€, for which an invoice will be sent to the guardian in September.
Training for camp assistants
In autumn 2025, a specific training for camp assistants will start. It takes place at Discord 8.9.25-31.3.26.
To register for the training you must turn 18 years in 2026 and have been a biggie at least once, but preferably more than once.
Training as a camp assistant is not mandatory to be a camp assistant, but trained assistants are the first priority. Training equivalent provided by the church will also be accepted.
